Sorry this is a day late!
I don’t have much to report…I only got one run in, and it was cut short.
Wednesday I had plans of doing 2-3 miles….I was going to run with Guinness for the whole run but he was having an off day, so I was going to drop him off back at home and finish up. As we ran down the home stretch, we passed one of the houses on our street where I saw/heard a heated argument going on between someone that lived there and a visitor. I looked straight ahead and sped up. It was enough to make me uncomfortable and I didn’t go back out to finish my run.
It may not sound like it should have kept me from going back out, but this house always has people coming and going - we have our questions about it, and I’ll leave it at that. My safety is much more important to me than finishing up a run.
I have my next half marathon next Saturday – the Women’s Running Series half in Nashville. I’m hoping to get at least 3 runs in this week and 2 next week to prepare me for it. I’m going to try and shoot for a PR, so lots of good vibes would be appreciated! I can’t wait to get this gorgeous medal around my neck!I’m still working on my Disneyland 10k recap and hope to have it up in the next day or so. I have so many pictures and memories that I want to make sure I get it all out!
Have you ever felt unsafe on a run? What did you do?
Until next time,
Uhhh...that's crazy I wouldn't have gone out again, either! I don't blame you - your safety is more important! :0) CUTE medal! I love it!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're okay! I tend to run like heck the quickest way back home or to a public area with a lot of people. :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck at your half marathon next Saturday!! Love that medal, it's adorable!
ReplyDeleteUgh, definitely been there before where I turned around or changed a route because I didn't feel safe. Always stick to roads you know though if you do change your route.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for you, I definitely see a PR in Nashville, that sounds like it will be such a fun race!!!
That Nashville medal looks amazing! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteAnd, I feel like a Disney slacker too. I still haven't posted my race recaps from Dumbo :) Glad to hear I am not the only one!
Sending good vibes for your upcoming half! And good for you for listening to your gut and cutting your run short instead of possibly putting yourself in harm's way. I've had a few moments like that and it's always better to be smart about it.
ReplyDeleteI mostly feel unsafe when dogs coming running at me. It happens a lot. I run in an area with a lot of houses and people, and so far have felt pretty safe. I did have a care slow down once when I was running on a road that is pretty deserted. I immediately got out my phone, and then they sped up, and I turned around and started back the other way. That kinda freaked me out.
ReplyDeleteThat medal is definitely a beauty. You totally got this! Can't wait to hear about it.
ReplyDeleteBummer about that running incident. I usually don't feel safe running when I get the leering eyes from randoms sitting on their stoops but that's about it.
