Jet Setting Away!

I am off to Tampa tonight for a belated anniversary trip with the hubby.  We celebrated 6 years of marriage on April 25th!

It’s been close to 20 years since I’ve been to Tampa so I’m looking forward to it! :)  I’ll get the chance to see some of my runDisney friends, take an Orangetheory Fitness class, relax on the beach and some other fun stuff!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!  See ya when I get back!

“Feel the Oo” Oofos Review

Disclaimer: I received a pair of Oofos at no cost to me; however, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

One of the best feelings a runner can have is peeling off their shoes and socks after a long run.  It can also be unpleasant when your feet and legs are screaming “What did you just do to me?!?!”

Enter Oofos.

I’ve had a few friends who own a pair and RAVE about them.  I’m not one to skimp on a pair of flip flops but I didn’t understand what the hype was about Oofos.  When asked to review them it was the perfect opportunity for me to check them out.

The Oofos technology is fairly simple -  it’s powered by Oofoam and their patented footbed design.  Oofos offers amazing impact absorption, superior arch support, and they’re super comfortable.  I am not exaggerating when i say it feels like you’re walking on air!

Oofos comes in many different colors and styles -

For myself, I chose the Oofos Original – this style comes in 11 different colors for women (sorry guys…only 3 color choices for you).  I went with a standard black because I knew it would be a more versatile color for me, but I LOVE the fuchsia and aqua colors!

I must admit that when I first put them on, I felt a little off balance.  I’m not used to wearing a flip flop with a little height (my standard footwear usually consists of my flip flops or my running shoes).  After a few wears I got used to it and really enjoy wearing them!  I slid them on after I finished the Georgia Peach Jam half and wore them for the rest of the day….even wore them to work the Monday after the race since my shins were still a bit sore.

I now find myself wearing my Oofos when I’m around the house or out running errands.  They will always travel with me for a race weekend….I definitely see them making my way into my suitcase for the Disneyland half marathon weekend.  Lots of walking in the parks and running a race?  I think my feet will thank me!

Check out their website here and find a local retailer so you can see what the hype is all about!

What do you wear after a race or workout for comfort?

A Magical Day

If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile you know that I participated in runDisney’s 2013 Inaugural Dumbo Double Dare.

I wasn’t planning on running at Disneyland again until 2017 for the 5th anniversary of the Dumbo Double Dare as well as the Disneyland 10k, but a couple of things fell in place, the stars aligned, and now…

DL half2

I am all signed up run the 10th anniversary of the Disneyland half marathon!!! I’ll just be running the half and I am 100% okay with that.  I have some amazing roommates/running friends that I’ll be staying with and we are going to have a fantastic girls weekend!  We’ll kick off the weekend with a trip to the expo and later that night head to Disneyland for a 10th anniversary party hosted by runDisney!  Friday and Saturday we’ll be playing in the parks and hanging out (I’ll be cheering for the 10k), and Sunday we’ll run the half and celebrate with one last trip into the parks before heading home.  It will be a whirlwind trip but a terrific one.

DL half1

Another thing that makes this trip even more epic is that this year is the 60th anniversary of Disneyland!

The castle will be decked out in jewels, they have a special parade at Disneyland as well as a new “World of Color” show at Disney’s California Adventure, and so much more!

I am so incredibly excited and am already starting to plan the weekend with my friends.  Hmm…now I need an idea for a costume!

Will you be running any races during the Disneyland half weekend?  Hope to see you there!

Weekly Workouts : April 27 – May 3

This was a tough week for me.  I’m not quite sure what the deal is, but I could NOT get my heart rate high enough to get into the orange zone for the recommended time.  I’m such a numbers person when it comes to the gym and I got so frustrated with myself.

Monday, April 27
Took an extra rest day

Tuesday, April 28
Could NOT stay out of the blue in the weight room!!

Wednesday, April 29
Rest day

Thursday, April 30

Friday, May 1
Today hit me hard.  I tried mixing inclines in with my speed on the treadmill, tried power walking at a 12-15% incline…nothing I did seemed to get my heart rate up.  Less time in the blue zone was good, but I NEED THAT ORANGE!

Saturday & Sunday, May 2-3
I decided to take the weekend off and collect myself.

I know not every workout is going to be a good one.  They often times push us harder to get to where we want or need to be.  This coming week will be a short workout week for me again as the hubby and I are going away for a long weekend to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary :)  BUT…I do have plans to take an OTF class at one of their studios near our hotel, and I look forward to it!

How do you pick yourself up after a not so great workout?
