I decided to stay near home and did the same route that I did on Tuesday, only adding a mile to it by running into the neighborhood next to ours and down to the highway an extra time. I felt REALLY good during the whole run. The night before J and I shopped around for a different knee brace for me but I had no luck, so I bought some athletic tape and taped below my patella and then put on my knee sleeve. That extra support really helped me out.
I did my 5 miles in 59 minutes. The last time I did 5 miles I went to the greenway, which is fairly flat the whole way, and ran it in 58 minutes. This time I was running with a bum knee and there were some hills, so I was pleased with my time. When I looked at my splits, I was pleasantly surprised!
Gotta love the negative splits! |
This weekend is my next race - the Vinings Downhill 5K. I thought I was going to have to take Guinness with me and have him run the race, but luckily I'm off work on Friday, so I'm heading down to my parents house Thursday night, and he'll be able to stay there while I go run. Hopefully I'll get to meet up with some Atlanta area Princesses before the race starts :) A PR wouldn't be too bad either.
Got a couple of giveaways to tell you about in the blogger community! Both Falon at Falon Does Marathon and Yo Momma at Yo Momma Runs are hosting a Cheribundi giveaway. These tasty little drinks would be great to chug after a workout as they are proven to help reduce soreness. Head on over and check out their blogs (they're really cool chicks) and enter for a chance to win a sample pack!
I hope everyone has a great day!
Until next time,
Jen
After my 5k on Saturday I am going to train for longer runs!
